cougar and mooch
Joni got an impromptu Mother's Day present this year: not one, but two new cats. What happened was that I stopped at our local pet store to get some crickets for our frogs, and discovered that they had two handsome male cats up for adoption. The cats had lived together for years, so the staff at the store was hoping they could be adopted together. I brought Joni and the girls into the store, and as soon as they set eyes on the cats, they fell in love. So, let me introduce you to the two newest members of our menagerie: Cougar and Mooch.

First up is Cougar. The folks at the pet store called him "Todd," but none of us liked that,
so we voted on new names for him, going back to our tradition of giving our pets names that start with
"C" (Cecilia, Cookie, Clawdia). Because he's so big, I wanted to name him Conan, but Ally vetoed that.
Despite his name and his size, he's usually pretty docile, but sometimes he chases the other cats around.

While he likes blobbing on laundry, Cougar's favorite place to hang out is our hall bathroom.
He and I have bonded, the way I did with Champy, and we consider him "my cat."

Joni has always liked "tuxedo" cats (she had one for 17 years), so it was no surprise that Mooch
(the pet store named him) is her favorite of the two. "Mooch" fits him, all right: he likes to meow--
loudly and early in the morning--for food. He's shy, and a little on the skinny side, but Joni has lots of
experience at fattening up critters. I'm sure he'll get fat and sassy in no time.

Cougar and Mooch get along fine with each other, of course, and our dogs don't bother them
(and vice versa). As for our other cat, Clawdia...well, she's not adjusting too well to her new
"housemates" (especially since they're all indoor cats). Hopefully, she'll get used to them soon.
