The Kilgores: Ally-Jane, me, Beth,
and Joni
The Brewsters: Molly, Lee, and Liz

The Brewsters are, shall we say,
NOT morning people, so we'd get up early and head out,
leaving them to some blessed peace
and quiet (and coffee. Must. Have. Coffee)

Fenwick
Island State Park has clean beaches that are not too crowded

The Atlantic was relatively warm,
with few jellyfish and lots of
big waves (but not TOO big) that
were good for bodysurfing

With Molly's help, Ally-Jane exacted
some cruel vengeance upon her big
sister and me by burying us alive.
I begged passers-by to call the police,
but no one came to my aid. Somehow,
they didn't believe Ally-Jane was
capable of acts of such cruelty,
but they don't know her as well as I do.

As is our habit, we also went mini-golfing,
where we scored several holes-in-one.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over
the sound of my awesomeness

The girls posing at the mini-golf
course with two big dogs we found there, neither of
which Joni let me take home. That
woman lives to trample on my happy

One afternoon, we went to nearby
Ocean City,
Maryland, where the ladies visited an amusement park

In the evenings, we'd return to
the beach house where we were staying and play card games or cornhole

Joni, as usual, crushed us. She's
sickeningly good at any game she plays. There's a pool with a
a splashpark near the beach house,
and we spent several hours there

There's also a carousel that gives
free rides. Kids can't resist carousels
Neither can some grown-ups I know

The community where we were staying
had free outdoor concerts.
One evening, it was Elvis; the next,
the Delaware Symphony Orchestra,
who brought along some fire-twirlers
for some awesome visuals
It was a good time!
