ha ha! we went to kennywood, and you didn't (06/2006)
I took my family to Kennywood this past June. What's that? You say you've never heard of Kennywood? Located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kennywood is one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States, having opened in 1898. It has lots of old-time rides: a carousel, The Whip, The Kangaroo, and The Jack Rabbit (a wooden roller coaster that Bethy and I really like). You can drive antique "cars" on The Turnpike, go through the Noah's Ark funhouse and visit the "Kiddieland" section with rides just for little children (which Ally really liked). It also has lots of modern rides, too, such as The Phantom (a steel roller coaster), a white-water rapids ride (which Joni and Bethy got drenched on), and "Garfield's Nightmare," a humorous water ride based on the comic strip cat.

The best thing about Kennywood is its relaxed, traditional, old-time feel. It's one of the few amusement parks where you can bring in your own picnic lunches, and it has something for every age group. If you're ever in Pittsburgh in summer, go to Kennywood!
