labor day in old greenbelt, 2006
Greenbelt, Maryland is a quirky but quaint little place--think Twin Peaks meets Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show--where I lived from 1980 to 1998. It's the closest thing I have to a "home town." I went to high school there, worked there, owned my first home there, and it's where my older daughter Beth spent the first four years of her life.

Every September, we go back to the old part of Greenbelt (first built in the 1930's) to enjoy the annual Labor Day festival. While I'm there, I always stop at Generous Joe's for the best cheesesteaks on planet Earth--if you're ever in Greenbelt, eat at Joe's!
