visit to pittsburgh (march, 2007)
Back in March, Joni and us and some of her siblings and their kids went up to Pittsburgh (where they're from) to visit Joni's mom and her great-aunt Molly (who had her 85th birthday the year before). Click on each thumbnail to see a larger version.

We took Great-Aunt Molly and her beau, Frank, out to lunch;
Great-Aunt Molly with nephews and nieces Matthew, Natasha, Mia, Maggie, Freddie, and Ally

How did Joni's sister Liz wind up at the kid table? Me with Joni's sister Katie,
her husband Garry (holding their son, Dmitri), and Liz's husband, Lee

Whenever we visit, we stay at the Conley Inn, which has indoor water slides the girls love
On this trip, Ally finally tried the "big slide" that had been too scary before

She loves it! As does big sister Beth, of course

Visiting the National Aviary with
Liz's daughter Molly (in the white sweater),
their Baba, and Aunt Alice,
the youngest of Joni's siblings

Is it me, or does the bird in the photo  at right  remind anyone else of Little Richard?

Trying to make new friends and learning about raptors

Being huge fans, we made a pilgrimage to Heinz Field, home of the 5-time Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers
Outside is a photo of Hines Ward, Joni's next husband: so long as he gets me season tickets, I'm smooth with that

Left:  Baltimore, feel free to borrow some ideas for your stadium
Middle:  Marking the spot near Heinz Field where the first pro football game was played
Right:  "You can take the girl out of Pittsburgh, but...."
